It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Good Morning everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend! Saturday was an amazing spring day, I spent the whole day outside walking and had a meal with my family in our backyard.

Some changes are beginning this week. Each of you should be receiving a packet that will be filled with learning activities for every subject, including art. You should complete one art choice a day. Remember, these are prompts to get you started, but if your creative mind pushes you farther, follow that creativity! Use what we've learned in school so far this year, and what we've done together here on digi-art to help you.

For the next three weeks, we will be focusing on the themes of community and family.

Along with our daily art supplies, I will post the art choice board here for you to see, but no more art activities (Except a few surprises). You should be receiving your art activities from the choice board now.

Choice boards will be posted in English and Spanish. Choice boards will not affect our art zooms, but we can use that time to answer questions if needed. The activities listed on the choice board are the result of many art teachers brainstorming, and can be used with any elementary grade level.

5th graders: If you'd like to try the choice board for middle school students, please email me!

Today's color of the day is light steel blue!

Today's art quote is:

"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." - Thomas Merton

Here's my doodle! I've been having a bit of a brain block, so sometimes re-visiting an old artwork is helpful!

Here are some key questions to think about during our Community/Family unit:

  • What does community mean to you? Who are members of your community?

  • What role do you play in your community?

  • Who are the helpers? How can you be a helper?

  • Why is community important?

  • If you could improve your community, what would you change? Why?

Have a wonderful, colorful day!

Ms. Harris

PS - You are all a valuable part of my community! I am so thankful for being your teacher!
