Leave, Twigs, and Blue skies, oh my!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope y'all had a good weekend. I was very grateful to get in touch with my sister, who lives all the way in San Diego, California!

Today's color of the day is Turquoise! What do you think? Is turquoise blue or green?

Today's art quote of the day is:

"The Earth without art is just 'eh'." -Unknown

Here's my doodle for the day:

Today I'm introducing everyone to what is called Land Art, or Earth Art, or Earthworks.

What is land art?

Well, it's what it sounds like. Land art is art that is made directly in the landscape, sculpting the land itself into earthworks or making structures in the landscape using natural materials such as rocks or twigs.

There are many artists who make land art. One of the most well known is Andy Goldsworthy. Here are some photos of his artwork. What do you notice about his work?

Gather up as many nature objects (flowers, twigs, rocks, leaves, shells, and more) as you can find, and try to re create one of Andy Goldsworthy's pieces! Is this easy to do? Is it a challenge? Why do you think this?

Artists grades 3 - 5, a bonus challenge for you is to create an image with your land art. Think about what you'd like to create, what colors you may need, and what nature objects you can use to help build this image.

Have a marvelous Monday!
